Official Standings Update!

Clarissa, Carol and I are all at Cooper's Landing listening to a local band waiting for Vince and Marianne to come in. Vince's cousin Steve, who owns The Old Brick House Deli, drove up with his wife Lisa and brought us a wonderful meal of stuffed green peppers and homemade apple pie! It was delicious! No one had a appetite all day because it was so hot out so this was the first meal that we have had all day! Vince and Marianne have a plate waiting for them when they come in. So enough with that and on to the important stuff! Vince and Marianne are in 23rd place in the entire race and are in 5th in their division! We are super excited and pumped to tell them where they stand! We estimated that 357 boats started the race and we know 94 boats have dropped out which leaves us with a guess that 263 boats are still in the race. The boat in first place is a 6 man boat traveling an average of 9 mph and was in Klondike (the last check point before the end  of the race) at 6:15 and although the website isn't updated yet we can only assume that they are done with the race! We will have more updates when Vince and Marianne come in!

  1. The following are result of my (Excel workbook) analysis using the MR 340 official results data on 8/2/2012 at about 1:00 a.m. Of the 295 boats on the results data page, I see three DNS boats, so I think the start count is 292. As I count them (using an Excel workbook), there are 197 racers remaining (all times are valid or not yet filled in, no DNFs or DNSs). Vince and Marianne were about 99th. I say about because there is no easy way to compare the solo results with the other results because of the one hour earlier start, and because there are errors in the on-line results. For example, the Griffins (boat 2503 in Mixed Tandem) arrived in Glasgow on 8/31 in the on-line results. I'll mail some Excel workbooks to Vince's home e-mail. They are fifth in their division.

  2. Well, I checked out kattack.com and, with Google earth, they show Vince's boat and three other boats, but I don't see Carol's car. ;-)
